Since 2004

Settled in the 1860s, Lakewood was known for orchards, dairy, and poultry farms. Today it is best known as the home to the western third of one of the nation's longest commercial streets, Colfax Avenue.

The can-do spirit of early residents is recalled in photos from both private collections and the collection of Lakewood Heritage Center.  The Autobees continue to study and write about Lakewood.

The Images of America series celebrates the history of neighborhoods, towns, and cities across the country.  The Autobees were pleased to work with Arcadia to make Lakewood's history available in pictures.
